It is time again for some American football in the heartland of Punjab. Some of the most athletic young men from 12 of the finest universities in India are set to assemble in Patiala for a Christmas fest of brawn and brains. The fast paced event is in its second edition, but this time around, it is a fully sanctioned university event. The inaugural edition was run by EFLI, introducing the exciting format to India. Next week’s tournament will see EFLI supply the kits and provide technical support, with Punjabi University playing host to the championship.

There was overwhelming interest in the event, with as many as 23 universities coming forward to send teams for the event. However, the current edition has been restricted to 12 of the best teams with a future roadmap for an extended event next year.

Here is the list of participating universities in this edition of AIU Tackle Football Championship 2015 – University (Coach)

  • Osmania University (Praveen Reddy)

The second edition of the AIU Championship will once again feature some of the biggest college stars of the sport in a series of intense battles at the PU facilities in Patiala.

Each team will consist of a minimum of 25 players, with the roster limited to a maximum of 30 athletes.

The event marks yet another chapter in EFLI’s efforts to deepen the roots of the game through the involvement of universities and colleges. The fact that the tournament has received official sanction from the AIU is a major boost for the athletes and the sport.

The event will be played at the Punjabi University grounds between 23rd and 26th December. As always, EFLI will bring you all the updates, action, photos and videos on our website.
